If this chart doesn’t scream “vaccinate your kids” nothing will

Last week, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) posted an update to the ongoing measles outbreaks in the U.S. According to the CDC, there have been 592 measles cases since the beginning of the year — which means that with four months left to go, this year’s outbreaks are already the biggest since the disease was virtually eradicated in 2000.

Here’s how severe the situation is | Follow micdotcom

So tonight seems like a good night to share a story with all of you.

This is a story about Morrowind (you know, elder scrolls 3, the game before the game before skyrim), an enchanted sword, and an irresponsible 13 year old me.

Those who have played morrowind know that many of the cities in the game are controlled by one of 3 major factions: Hlaalu, Redoran, and Telvanni.

One day I was walking through the now ugly but then impressively rendered world wearing my combat-finest (a full set of ice-wolf armor and a two handed sword I had enchanted with a grand soul gem to do enormous damage and basically one shot most everything in the game) when I crossed near a Telvanni town.

Now I should let you know that coming near to towns for me was a bit of an arduous task, I had an enormous bounty on my head on account of having stolen loads of items that looked cool from pretty much every major city in the game. As was normal, the guards ran up to try and arrest me. Tired of how difficult it was to get anywhere being the worlds most wanted criminal, I decided to let them take me in and reform my criminal ways. Everything I had on my person at the time was legitimately acquired and I would just be able to take it back later… or so I thought.

Upon being released from jail I looked for the chest where they put your gear and couldn’t find it. Now I wouldn’t normally be too upset about losing my ice wolf armor, I had other sets of armor that were better, I just liked the way the ice wolf armor had looked. But that sword had been difficult to make. Determined, I searched the entire town, high and low but to no avail. I broke into the houses of citizens in the night and searched them for my weapon but it was nowhere to be seen.

Swearing vengance on those who had stolen from me, I went to the mages guild (that I could get to without being attacked now because I was no longer a criminal). There, I created the most powerful spell I could (Because custom spells were a thing you could do). It did moderate damage over several seconds, but with the highest possible area of effect.  Returning to the town that had robbed me, I used my levitate spell to place myself squarely above the town, and there I flung fire down upon their heads. A single blast encompassed the entire town. Citizens died instantly, the more sturdy guards puzzled at how they could reach me in the air when my second cast liberated them from life as well. I entered each and every home and punched to death (because I didn’t have a sword any more) every single person who lived in the town.

Still unable to find what I sought, I went on to spread the flames of my vengence. One by one, I visited every outpost of the Telvanni I could find and I obliterated them. Many hours of gameplay later, having long ago replaced my missing equipment, I stumbled over the chest where they had put that sword in a corner I had somehow missed before.

And thats the story of how I committed genocide because I didn’t look around thoroughly enough.
